QuickSnap Editor's Review

QuickSnap is an image capturing tool.

QuickSnap is an image capturing tool that replaces the tool built in the Mac OS X. The same as the Mac OS utility, you have 'capture screen', 'capture selection' and 'capture window'. Nothing unusual, you can do all these things using keyboard shortcuts 'command + shift + 4' for selection, 'command + shift + 3' for screen capture and 'command + shift + 4 + space' for window. After you've pressed these, Mac OS will automatically save the capture in "png" format and named Picture "number".

QuickSnap provides a few more options like 'hot keys', 'sounds', 'timer', 'output location' and file 'custom file names'. I haven't found why I should use "hot keys" which are already there by default.

I would use this application only for it's features like 'timer', 'output location', 'custom name 'and 'file format'. QuickSnap can capture in: "jpeg", "tiff", "png", "bmp", "gif", "sgi", "tga", "pict" and "pdf" file formats.

Pluses: timer, custom names and output location.

Drawbacks / flaws: the possibility to make screen captures without using QuickSnap.

In conclusion: If the Mac OS X screen capture utility isn't good enough and you need more custom features, then QuickSnap might be worth trying. You also should try a freeware software for processing captured output file formats: ChangeCapture
